DISTANCE AND EXTENSION LEARNING PROGRAM
Train for ministry wherever you are.
Pursue graduate theological training wherever you are.

Do you desire to be better equipped for your ministry but you cannot attend school or seminary?

Have you dreamed about graduate theological training but for any of a dozen reasons this has not been possible for you – not enough funds, family or work situation does not allow you to go away, or you don’t want to leave your present church ministry?

You can now complete your graduate degree without leaving your family, home, ministry, or workplace (career). You can begin at any time, and complete your studies in your own time (work at own pace). You can structure your training program to your needs and learning style.
How? Alliance Graduate School in partnership with other schools has developed the new Distance and Extension Learning Program (DELP). This is a modular program that will enable students to complete a graduate degree in theological training by enrolling for and completing modules in their own time and through either independent studies or attending extension modules.
Some of our courses have been adapted from the Institute of Theological Studies and these courses were developed by well renowned professors like Drs. Kenneth Gangel, Bruce Waltke, Garth Rosell, Roger Greenway and Patrick Cate.
By taking 9 units every 6 months you could complete a degree in 2 1/2 years. However, if you are very busy you would most likely do it in 3-4 years, but all of it while you remain in your ministry.

PROGRAM GOALS

DELP aims to:

  • Offer quality, affordable, graduate theological training for pastors, church workers, lay leaders and Christians which would enable them to remain within their ministries/churches.
  • Maintain the quality scholarship (academic excellence) for which the partner schools are known.
  • Establish and maintain a strong practical and ministry focus throughout the program. All courses, class work, seminars, papers, assignments, projects, etc. must always be related to, interact with, and refer to the practice of the ministry of the student. A reflective practice approach will be the main learning mode in this program, supplemented by other learning activities.

HOW DOES IT WORK? (PROGRAM STRUCTURE)

DELP will be modular in structure. Students will enroll per module, one or more at a time. Students acquire credits as they complete modules. Modules will be in two formats.

Independent Learning Modules
These modules do not require any class attendance or on-campus time. The student will study independently under the guidance and supervision of a professor. Upon registration for the module a Module Study Kit will be sent to the student. This will include all the necessary materials to enable the student to complete the module - the syllabus and study guide; list of prescribed readings; list of assignments or projects to be completed; study notes; and other study tools like audio or video cassettes, or CD-ROM’s. Interaction between the tutor and student will take place through mail, telephone, or where possible through e-mail and chat rooms on the Internet. We plan to make these modules available on-line as soon as possible. Completion of an Independent Learning Module earns a student 3 credit units.

Extension Modules
These modules involve 30 hours of class interaction as well as readings and assignments, which may be completed before or after the extension sessions. These sessions will be offered at various extension centers, especially in Mindanao and the Visayas, e.g. KTS, (Davao), EBCS (Zamboanga), and Cebu. Other extension centers may be added in the future. Please enquire about the venue and dates of extension module offerings. Completion of an Extension Module earns a student 3 credit units. AGS Summer Modules offered at AGS, Manila, can also be taken for credit in DELP.
